A course designed for participants that work at height and require the knowledge and skills to perform a basic rescue in a range of scenarios. A person who suffers a fall and is suspended in a harness will require urgent assistance. This becomes increasingly important outside of urban areas where isolation can mean assistance and rescue by specialist emergency services takes time. This course covers basic level awareness of rescue operations, related equipment & associated problems. It represents the minimum capability to provide basic rigging and support operations at a rope rescue operation. The course is aimed at training operators to perform self rescue techniques in the event of equipment failure or other associated problems and also allows personnel to participate as part of a rescue team. This may include, but is not limited to performing under the direction of Technical Level personnel and/or other support operations. Included upon successful completion is a statement of attainment
for the unit PUASAR001A Participate in a Rescue Operation from
the Public Safety
Training
Package which is a pre requisite for the Vertical Rescue Level 2 Course.

Anyone within industry needing or potentially needing to perform rescues on others will gain all the necessary skills to allow them to both participate and co-ordinate a rescue operation in conjunction with other trained personnel The content also covers many advanced rescue techniques and anyone currently working within an industry where rescue is a real concern will gain many more skills to compliment expertise that they may already have.
