MNMG237A Work safely at heights

This course is designed to give participants an understanding of the requirements of Tasmanian Law in relation to Height Safety and the knowledge and skills to choose and use the correct equipment required to work safely at height.

A statement of attainment for the unit MNMG237A Work Safely at Heights from the Metalliferous Mining Training Package is awarded at the successful completion of the course. Participants also receive a wallet size Work Safely at Heights ticket.

A course designed for participants that work at height and require the knowledge and skills to perform a basic rescue in a range of scenarios. A person who suffers a fall and is suspended in a harness will require urgent assistance. This becomes increasingly important outside of urban areas where isolation can mean assistance and rescue by specialist emergency services takes time.

A statement of attainment for the unit MNMG237A Work Safely at Heights from the Metalliferous Mining Training Package and PUASAR001A Participate in a Rescue Operation from the Public Safety Training Package is awarded at the successful completion of the course. Participants also receive a wallet size Work Safely at Heights ticket.

This course covers basic level awareness of rescue operations, related equipment & associated problems. It represents the minimum capability to provide basic rigging and support operations at a rope rescue operation. The course is aimed at training operators to perform self rescue techniques in the event of equipment failure or other associated problems and also allows personnel to participate as part of a rescue team. This may include, but is not limited to performing under the direction of Technical Level personnel and/or other support operations.

Included upon successful completion is a statement of attainment for the unit PUASAR001A Participate in a Rescue Operation from the Public Safety Training Package which is a pre requisite for the Vertical Rescue Level 2 Course.

Designed to allow people in industry and emergency services to perform team based rescue techniques on others who have been working at height and may subsequently require assistance or rescue. Anyone within industry needing or potentially needing to perform rescues on others will gain all the necessary skills to allow them to both participate and co-ordinate a rescue operation in conjunction with other trained personnel The content also covers many advanced rescue techniques and anyone currently working within an industry where rescue is a real concern will gain many more skills to compliment expertise that they may already have.

The course includes a statement of attainment for the unit PUASAR004A Undertake Vertical Rescue from the Public Safety Training Package.

This course is designed to cover all the critical aspects of basic first aid and is a practically orientated program. It will equip participants with the skills and knowledge to provide first response, life support and management of casualties and the incident until medical aid arrives.

Successful participants receive a Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency:
HLTFA301B Apply First Aid

This certificate is valid for 3 years

This course is designed for participants to gain the skills and knowledge of advanced first aid to be able to manage trauma incidents with the aid of specialist equipment to increase the level of care provided to casualties. It includes defibrillation and oxygen resuscitation.
